Miller Cromdale and GDF SUEZ

Take Top Accolade at BCO Awards

GDF SUEZ House in Aberdeen has received the top accolade in the 2015 British Council for Offices (BCO) Scottish Regional awards.

The development, which is located in the North Dee Business Quarter in the the heart of Aberdeen, won the ‘Corporate Workplace’ category, receiving recognition for excellence in design, exceptional quality of fit out and environmental standards.

The building, which was forward funded by Tritax Aberdeen HQ Office Fund, was designed by Miller Cromdale, a joint venture between Miller Developments and Cromdale Ltd, with the fit out undertaken by GDF SUEZ.

GDF SUEZ House was the first office building in Scotland to achieve an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating at the post construction phase under the 2011 New Construction Scheme and environmental performance was a key focus during the design and fit out. The building includes stunning external architecture married with the highest quality of building materials, including extensive use of granite. The IT infrastructure was also integrated with GDF SUEZ ’s London office to increase operational resilience and emphasising the importance of the building in Aberdeen for the company’s operations.

Established in 1992, the prestigious BCO annual awards programme defines excellence in office space, providing public recognition for quality design, functionality and innovation. The programme acknowledges innovation and focuses external attention on examples of best practice.

Neil Finnie, Associate Director, Miller Cromdale, said: “This award is fantastic recognition from the BCO and we are delighted to have received this accolade alongside GDF Suez. Working closely with GDF, we have worked hard to create a high quality building featuring unrivalled environmental credentials whilst also bringing the highest level of design standards to the centre of Aberdeen.”

Bjorn Hobart, Partner, Tritax “We were attracted to this project not only because of the calibre of the tenant’s covenant, but also because of the high quality of the building design and Miller Cromdale’s excellent track record for delivering superior offices in Aberdeen. We are delighted therefore that this project has received formal recognition from the BCO.”

GDF SUEZ agreed to a 15 year lease on GDF SUEZ House. The building on the city’s North Esplanade West will accommodate up to 300 people as the company looks forward to first gas from its Cygnus project.
