Miller Cromdale has today, lodged a planning application to provide a new 40,000 sq. ft. bespoke office building for GDF SUEZ E&P UK Ltd at North Esplanade West, Aberdeen. Fast growing North Sea operating company, GDF SUEZ E&P UK will occupy the development on a 15 year lease, with employees and contractors expected to occupy the new building in 2014.

Pamela Grant, Development Director, Miller Cromdale, said: “We are delighted that GDF SUEZ E&P UK has chosen North Esplanade West for its new Aberdeen office. This deal reinforces our on-going commitment to Aberdeen and further extends the North Dee Business Quarter. We have enjoyed a strong presence in Aberdeen for over twelve years with more than 350,000 sq. ft. developed and this latest success further illustrates our status in the Aberdeen market.”

“North Esplanade West is a prime office location offering views across the River Dee, and we are confident this building will be a key base for GDF SUEZ’s UK E&P operations. Our involvement in the overall regeneration of the North Dee Business Quarter has transformed it into the major city centre office location. With further detailed consent for more than 250,000 sq. ft. in the area we look forward to further developments in the near future.”

Jean-Claude Perdigues, Managing Director at GDF SUEZ E&P UK, said: “The new Aberdeen office underlines our commitment to the UK North Sea as we invest in existing and new exploration and production developments. This development comes only two years after establishing a UK operations base in Union Plaza.”

The five storey, Grade A office accommodation will provide capacity for up to 200 people, providing the company with the required space to grow operations in support of existing, and, new exploration and production projects. The facilities will include state-of-the-art office accommodation and meeting rooms, all supported with IT and audio-visual infrastructure. The office will be built to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, making it one of the first buildings in Aberdeen to achieve this rating under the 2011 scheme.

Currently GDF SUEZ E&P UK in Aberdeen is split across three sites; Union Plaza, Holburn House and City Wharf, and the new office will consolidate the teams into one location.

Construction is expected to commence in October this year. Young & Company and Pinsent Masons acted for Miller Cromdale with CBRE and Paull & Williamsons acting for GDF Suez.
